Just when I thought that I’d deep-fried just about everything I decided to feed the sweet tooth monster with this amazing fried food treat. Who doesn’t love heading to the local carnival or state fairs for delicious fair food? There’s always so many delicious treats one can choose from that are just as delicious as they are unique. With so many favorite foods one can pick while at the fair, how can you choose just one! There are funnel cakes, Gyros, corn dogs, and of course Deep Fried Oreos!

What’s in an Oreo?

Oreos are a chocolate sandwich cookie consisting of two dark cocoa-flavored cookies with a sweet creme filling in the center. They have been around since 1912 and have been a favorite to many ever since. Deliciously, they come in many flavors such as golden Oreo, double Stuf Oreo, birthday cake Oreo, watermelon Oreo, firework Oreo, and pumpkin spice Oreo, just to name a few. They are such a delicious favorite you will probably find in most homes in the US!

That’s why I decided anyone should be able to enjoy this perfect treat from the comfort of your own home. The flavor and crunch of these fried Oreos are crazy good AND crazy addictive. Not just for special occasions but just because! I used to eat a couple of Oreos in one sitting…but now? I could easily eat these sweet treats all day long. (and who says I can’t have Oreos for breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Perks of an adult!)

Ingredients Needed To Make Deep Fried Oreos

  • 1 cup Pancake Mix
  • 1 Egg
  • 20 Oreo Cookies
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Vegetable Oil

How to Make Oreos Fried in Pancake Batter

The First Step is to place your frying oil in a dutch oven over medium heat. Use a candy thermometer to ensure you bring the oil to 350F.

Line a plate with paper towels and set it aside.

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the pancake mix, egg, milk, and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil.

Dip each OREO into the batter mix until completely coated.

Frying Process

Remove excess coating then place OREO in the hot oil.

Deep frying it for 1 minute per side until golden brown, then drain and place on the paper towel-lined plate.

Repeat with all OREOs.

Dust OREOs with confectioner’s sugar when ready to serve.

Tips for making Deep-Fried Oreos

You may find that you need more oil to fry the Oreos which will vary depending on the size of your dutch oven or whatever pan you’re using to cook them. It will be important that you have between 3-4 inches of oil depth.

You can also vary the type of cooking oil used. Some of my favorites are peanut, vegetable, or canola oil.

Fried Oreos in Air Fryer

Did you know you can make this delicious treat in your Air Fryer?

To make sure your food doesn’t stick to the bottom of the basket, line it with parchment paper and cut 2 sheets, so they will fit just right. Preheat your air fryer 350 degrees before placing these in place!

Then Just place the coated cookies in the air fryer basket and set them to 7 minutes or until golden brown.

Fun toppings and dips for fried Oreos

If you’re wanting even more sugar (because why not?!), you can always add on more toppings, too! I love to top with powdered sugar but you can easily drizzle with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, or even a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Keep in mind that this recipe is very similar to what you’ll get at fairs or carnivals so you really can’t go over the top with anything that you decide to do with this fun dessert recipe.

And if you’re not into toppings, you can have any of these as a fun dip, too. A little bowl of hot fudge or caramel sauce is the perfect way to dip and bite as much as you please. You don’t have to worry about double-dipping because there’s no way that you’re going to be sharing this!This really is a unique treat.
