Easy Mango Lassi Recipe with Passion Fruit Juice (1)

Ever since we arrived in Southeast Asia some 10 months ago I wanted to share a recipe with one of my favorite fruit flavor combinations of all time - mango and passion fruit! But somehow the right idea just wouldn't come to me.

I've been on such a green/vegetable smoothie kick, that sharing an all fruit smoothie just didn't feel right until I had a mango lassi at an Indian restaurant here in Hoi An, Vietnam. And right away I knew that I could make it so much more awesome by adding passion fruit.

The sweet and tart passion fruit juice just perfectly enhances everything that is great abouta mango lassi. The fruity sweetness of the mango and the hint of tartness from the yogurt + the blended up passion fruit seeds add a fantastic crunchy texture that I can't get enough of.

Oh and yeah, I've learnt how to make animated GIFs. I know, I know... I am like 10 years behind the game.

But I just had to! When I saw all the awesome images I had from trying to get a perfect pour shot of this glorious Mango Passion Lassi. So now you get to see a bunch of pour shots all in one 🙂

Also, I added flowers to my setup! My friend Lorena (and her stunningfood photos) inspired me to make use of the gorgeous flowers that are growing around our house here as a food prop.

What would complement a tropical fruit beverage better than some tropical frangipani flowers?!

They are my absolute favorite!! I love how the blossomslook so pure and gentle with an understated elegance.

And they smell amazing! Every time the frangipani fragrance hits my nostrils, it stops me right in my tracks and I have to look around to find the tree, and take a moment to take in their beauty.

While this might sound like anempty cliche to some, taking time to slow down has become really important to me. Our location independent lifestyle is by definition and choice one with little stress. But still,by nature I tend to get hyper focused on always the next task ahead.

It's like having blinders for the present and all its precious moments. And with a quickly growing toddler there are many, many of these that just pass by too quickly. So for now I am letting the smell of flowers remind me to practice gratitude, to be there, and to fully enjoy the beauty of simple things.

This frangipani love isn't by any means a new development. In case you hadn't noticed yet, frangipaniare in my logo and even my blog name. "Leelalicious" is a fun compound word I came up with years ago.

The first part leelais borrowed fromleelawadee, the Thai name for frangipani flowers. And since this is a food blog, I merged it with delicious. There you have it, a little naming history lesson.

Now go out and get the ripest +sweetest mango you can find. Frozen mango chunks work too, just add a little ripe banana if the mango isn't the sweetest. And then find passion fruit.

I know it may not be as easy as it is for me here in Vietnam, but I remember even my grocery store in the frozen tundra of Canada carried passion fruit from time to time. Sometimes they were the orange skinned sweet granadillainstead of the purple pictured here. Either will work just fine. Alright, so here is how to make mango lassi with passion fruit:
