Gravity Forms 2.8: A Streamlined Editing Experience (2)

We’re delighted to announce the release of Gravity Forms 2.8!

With Gravity Forms 2.8, you’ll find a streamlined editing experience thanks to the new Compact View feature. Using Compact View, it’s never been easier to navigate and review lengthy forms – and quickly make the edits you need.

As with all our major updates, the launch of 2.8 will be via a phased rollout (commencing today, Dec, 7th, 2023) to ensure smooth adoption and provide a ramped approach to gathering feedback.

Read on to find out more about 2.8 and how to get your hands on this latest version of Gravity Forms…

New With Gravity Forms 2.8: Compact View

Gravity Forms 2.8 ships with the brand new, much requested, Compact View feature.

For anyone who creates lengthy forms with numerous fields, you’ll know the frustration of scrolling to find specific fields that you need to edit. That all ends with Compact View!

Once Compact View is enabled you’ll find all your fields compressed down to single lines – giving you a full overview of the fields used and the form’s layout.

Within Compact View, edits can be made in the usual way – adding and deleting fields, configuring field settings, using the drag-and-drop functionality to change field order or add and alter form columns, and much more – allowing you to quickly make any necessary customizations to your form.

For more information on the new Compact View feature, check out our 2.8 documentation.

CSS API Updates: Improved Performance

Gravity Forms 2.8 also sees some major updates to our Theme Framework, which powers Orbital. This involves the shortening of a number of CSS API property names to help reduce the size of our stylesheets and ultimately improve performance across the board.

We are of course aware that this will directly affect some of our developer and agency customers. We’vecreated this documentationto help guide you through these updates.

Update to Gravity Forms 2.8

As mentioned, Gravity Forms 2.8 will be released via a phased rollout to ensure smooth adoption. This means that you’ll receive the 2.8 update through your WordPress Admin at some point during the rollout period, which is expected to be a few weeks long.

However, if you don’t want to wait, Gravity Forms 2.8 is also available to all our customers via a direct download from your Gravity Forms account dashboard.

Here’s how to get your hands on 2.8…

  • Update Gravity Forms 2.8 in WordPress Admin – All customers can expect to receive an update during the rollout period (commencing Dec, 7th, 2023). Once you receive the update, simply navigate to the Pluginspage within your WordPress Admin, scroll down toGravity Formsand selectUpdate Now.
