Why not? Lopes is an easy opponent, and Volk's going to get his ass kicked by Topuira again so he has no reason to rush for that fight.

Because he saved a card for the Sheiks that might of changed the trajectory of his career and could possibly be the reason he is no longer champ plus the UFC still has super fights in Abu which might not be a thing if the UFC did not deliver on its promises or Islam ended up fighting Gamrot. Plus the guy fought anybody for ever and never complained, he even fought Max 3 times. In other words all these awesome fights and possible future matchups at featherweight and in Abu might be because Volk did a solid for the UFC and lost his chin in the process. Plus he was a multi-defending champ and they always get a rematch.

Told you guys, no way Volk was taking the Lopes fight when he just did a face off with Top in the cage.

Volk has been pushing for the rematch for months.

No way he jumps in with a young contender without a title on the line (unless Topuria changes his mind and refuses to fight Volk).
