Young Frankenstein (1974) (2024)

I am so ready for fall. It is too hot and I am tired of summer already. So, I thought we could discuss the droll horror film Young Frankenstein. The satire follows Dr. Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") as he travels to Transylvania and is encouraged to fulfill his grandfather's legacy.

Written, produced, and directed by Mel Brooks, based on the novel by Mary Shelley

Music by John Morris

Starring Gene Wilder, Peter Boyle, Marty Feldman, Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, Richard Haydn, and MADELINE KAHN as Elizabeth

Apparently the cast and crew loved working on the film so much, they filmed extra scenes just so production wouldn't end.

Attached are outtakes and bloopers. You can tell they were all having a ball.

Stay close to the candles. The staircase can be treacherous.

by Anonymousreply 10June 29, 2024 9:53 PM

Marty Feldman’s borscht belt comedy in contrast with the dead-pan delivery of the rest of the cast is my favorite part of this movie.

The scenes with Madeline Kahn are so hysterical, they are like from a different movie.

Honey, did you see I put another hamper in the bathroom? This one's for your shirts, the other's just for socks and poo-poo undies.

I was surprised that the ending is that everyone gets sexually satisfied. I didn’t see that coming!

by Anonymousreply 14June 29, 2024 10:08 PM

An amazing cast!

by Anonymousreply 15June 29, 2024 10:19 PM

Ovalteeeeeeeen?

by Anonymousreply 16June 29, 2024 10:34 PM

Oh man, when Madeline Kahn walked through the door with her hair in that gigantic two-toned updo and hissed, I lost it!

A comedy genius taken from us far too young.

by Anonymousreply 24June 30, 2024 2:50 AM

When someone says, “Walk this way”, I have the sudden urge, decades later, to emulate the person in front of me. So juvenile, and it came from this movie.
