Fall Tablescape | Farmhouse Holiday Series (1)

This might be my favorite day of our Farmhouse Holiday Series so far. Everyone created such special tablescapes and I hope you get a moment to visit all of them. I will be linking to each oneat the end of this post. If you are just joining us, I am so happy to have you! You can catch up with our series by visiting our Fall Kitchens (and favorite Autumn recipes), and our Fall Family rooms. And here is our schedule if you want to mark your calendars:

Tablescapes are so fun for me. There is something veryrelaxing about arranging a table. I love all of the layers and textures, and I also love any excuse to pull out my favorite dinnerware and serve ware. My sweet Ella had fun helping me too.

I know it seems almost counter intuitive to set the table and add the centerpiece last, but by doing this you can make sure you fit all of the necessary items on the table and work the candles and decorations around them. I started each of my place settings with some large children's encyclopedias that I found at a thrift store years ago for 50 cents. I used them as chargers to add interest and fun texture to the table. I layered my plates withthese AllModernlinen towels. I love using towels in the place of napkins because they are bigger and so pretty layered with plates (They also come in handy having 3 littles under 5). I added small loafs of homemade bread to each place setting just for fun too.

We had a tree die in our yard a couple years ago and I saved part of it with the intention of cutting it up to use it forcandlesticks. My sweet hubby cut them for me in various sizes and I drilled the holes for candles. Can't beat free :).

I had a hard time picking pumpkins at the local farm because they were all so pretty, but these are the ones I came home with. I love their colors and shapes. The white ones came from my garden.

I also threw in a few peaches that I picked up from the local farmer's market because I thought their color was so beautiful. I love the time of year when peaches are as big as your hand!

I made peasant soup with this AllModerncast iron cocotte and ladle. We love nice warm soups this time of year and I love that they make for delicious leftovers for a couple days. I will be sharing this recipe soon, so stay tuned. It is hearty and delicious.

I had these kraft loaf pans in my stash but I also found them HERE. I didn't have much time to search so that one hasa pretty bigquantity andwas the only one I could find, but I bet you could find a smaller quantity. I baked my loaves of bread in small loaf pans, transferred them into these and then tied them with some jute that I had on hand. I am sure you could also bake the bread directlyin these paper loaf pans if you want to save a step.

I finished off the table with branches I cut from my parents' trees. I love the way the green sets off the other warm colors on the table.

I love everything about this. I love how you invest in a couple timeless pieces that will last generations and fill the rest of your table with things that were passed down, hold memories, are homemade or were found in nature. Such a beautiful, endearing table Kristen. 5 gold stars for you!

Love your tablescape! It's such a warm, cozy nature inspired look that fits your peasant soup dinner theme so well. The only thing that doesn't seem to fit is the price of some of the items you used for at least your simple farmhouse meal....$25 a piece for linen towels as napkins? A $189 cocotte or cast iron dutch oven? It's a bit disappointing for anyone wanting to recreate your tablescape who isn't wealthy. Just some honest feedback.

Thank you for your feedback Sharon! I did my best with the items that I had available to work with in the hopes that it would inspire others to recreate it on any budget. Sometimes I share things that are free or thrifted, and sometimes I share others, but my hope is always to inspire people to take some of my ideas and make it their own with the special items in their own homes. Thank you again for taking the time to comment. I really do appreciate your thoughtfulness.
