Who is ready for spring?? I know I am! I do not have my Spring/Easter decorations up yet but I wanted to give you all some great ideas in case you wanted to start your decorating. Today I am going to share with you how to create an Easter vignette showing you different examples of others who have made stunning vignettes. You may be saying to yourself, “That sounds great, but what is a vignette?” Honestly when I first heard the term I was not sure what it meant either, I just knew that I loved the look of them. 🙂 Very simply, a vignette is a group of objects that are placed together to create a pleasing focal point. For example, if you decorate on top of your entryway table, that is a vignette. Most times there will be some sort of theme with it, in this instance our theme is Easter.
One nicething about vignettes is that they allow you to decorate for a holiday or season without having to decorate your whole house. It is easier and more cost effective to decorate a small area so this is something anyone could do. The ideas are endless on where to create a vignette, you could really do one in any room of the house. However, I will share some more specific areas for you.
A great place for a vignette is on your dining room table. Add a table runner and create your vignette to use as a centerpiece like in this example.

How about in your kitchen? Here is a great example where she uses dishes in her vignette which is such a great idea for the kitchen! I think Yvonne at Stone Gable is the queen of vignettes, take a look at her blog for some great ideas!

Another good idea for the kitchen is to use a three tiered tray like these. It would look great sitting on an island or on your counter, and not take up too much counter space. 🙂

Realistically you can decorate with anything you want in the vignette. Shop your own house, finding items around that feel like Spring and Easter. You can even use items from outside like branches, flowers, bird nests etc. It is always nice to have some natural elements in your grouping. Below are some examples of common items used in Easter vignettes.

The next three examples all use a cloche in them. A cloche (or glass bell jar) is a great addition to a vignette. It doesn’t matter what you decorate with, it always looks better with a cloche over it. 🙂 Well that is my opinion anyway. Obviously they are not very big in size, so whatever you put in it has to be smaller and more intricate. I think that the cloche helps to highlight the details in the smaller items. A cloche is so versatile as well, you can switch out the decor underneath depending on what you are decorating for but they are always a great addition. An obvious addition to an Easter vignette is a bunny or bunnies. You can’t decorate for Easter without including Peter Cottontail! I love the look of white distressed bunnies, but others are cute too. I foundsome adorable bunnies here, here& here. Look at these vignettes with bunnies, aren’t they so cute?!.

Other items that you MUST add for an Easter vignette are eggs. Nothing says Easter more than eggs, right? There are so many ideas out there for decorating eggs as well. You can transform those cheap plastic eggs into something beautiful! If you don’t want to DIY your own eggs, I found some cute speckled ones you can buy here, here & here. LOVE the last vignette pictured below with the eggs in the scale!!

A good way to display all your decorations and bring it all together is to put everything in a tray or basket. This also makes it transportable if you want to move it around to different locations.

Some other items you could use are lanterns, pitchers, birdcages, flowers (fresh or faux), candles, decorative balls, etc. A lot of these items have also been shown in these examples.
The best vignettes have items of different sizes and textures. You also want varying heights to give it more dimension. You may have to stack items on books or a cake standto give them more height. Start with your taller items in the back and move forward, layering as you go. Here are some excellent examples of using layering and varying heights in your vignettes.
